Select a Report Model When Starting a Project

Portfolio managers can now select a report model directly when starting a project from a portfolio. This makes it easier to set up reporting from the very beginning, without needing to configure it separately after the project is created.

Additionally, a new Enable classic portfolio reporting setting gives administrators control over whether classic portfolio reporting features are visible in their environment.

Choose a report model during project start

When you start a project from a portfolio item, the Start project dialog now includes the option to:

  • Select a report model — choose the report model that should be used for the project.

This allows you to align the project with your organization’s reporting process right from the start.

  1. Open a Portfolio and navigate to the Funnel.
  2. Open a portfolio item and select Start project.
  3. Select the appropriate report model from the dropdown.
  4. Complete the remaining fields and confirm.

Enable classic portfolio reporting setting

Not every organization uses classic portfolio reporting. A new setting, Enable classic portfolio reporting, lets administrators control whether these features are visible. When disabled, the following elements are hidden:

  • Report model listing on the portfolio
  • The option to send a report request from the portfolio
  • The Portfolio reporting tab on projects
  • The report model section in the Start project dialog

By default, this setting is enabled so existing workflows are not affected.

To configure this setting, open the Portfolio Management tab in the configuration settings and look for Enable classic portfolio reporting.

Best practices

  • Enable the report model selection if your organization uses portfolio reporting, so project managers start with the correct reporting setup from day one.
  • Disable classic portfolio reporting if your organization does not use it, to keep the interface clean and avoid confusion for users.
  • Communicate the change to portfolio managers so they know to select a report model when starting new projects.
