Resolving Odata feed error after upgrading FCC version

Update from the Fortes Change Cloud

After an update is performed for the Fortes Change Cloud, the PowerBI dashboard may display an error message from the Odata feed.

This error message can occur when Power Query tries to connect to a table from a data source, whose tables or columns have been renamed after the performed update. To ensure that the error message disappears and the correct tables/columns are used, the following steps can be performed:

  1. Open the .pbix file that gives the error message
  2. Within the PowerBI Desktop Client, click Query Overview.

To get to Power Query Editor, first select Transform data from the Home tab of the PowerBI desktop. See the image below for a visualization.

The Advanced Editor lets you see the code that the PowerBI Query Editor creates with each step. It also allows you to create your own code. To start the Advanced Editor, select View and then Advanced Editor. A window appears showing the code generated for the selected query.

Then rename the desired tables and/or columns.

Effects on own dashboard(s)

In the Fortes Change Cloud, it is of course possible to create your own dashboards. These dashboards can be customized, by changing field names or table names, for example. This allows a dashboard to be personalized. However, this could potentially have consequences if there are changes to tables or columns in a possible update to the Fortes Change Cloud. These changes to PowerBI may affect all (custom) dashboards. Therefore, be careful when creating your own dashboards about the impact the personalization could have. If an error message does occur, it can be corrected using the section above

If you are still unable to correct the error message yourself, Fortes Support can be contacted. When submitting a ticket, always include .pbix file so that Fortes Support has a clear picture of the current configuration.
