Views in All SPM Components

You can now save, select, and manage views across all Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) components — including List, Capacity Planning, and Financial Planning. A view stores your preferred column configuration, filters, grouping, and other display settings, so you can switch between different perspectives with a single click.

Previously, each time you opened an SPM tab you had to manually adjust columns, filters, and groupings. With views, you configure a layout once, save it, and reuse it whenever you need it.

Selecting a view

A view selector is now available in the toolbar of every SPM tab (except Workflows). Select a saved view from the dropdown to immediately apply its column layout, filters, and grouping.

When no view has been created yet, the SPM tab shows its preconfigured default columns. As soon as you change any setting — such as adding a filter or changing the grouping — the selector shows the view name followed by an asterisk (e.g., “My View*”) to indicate unsaved changes.

If you switch to a different view while you have unsaved changes, those changes are discarded without a confirmation prompt.

Saving a view

After adjusting your columns, filters, grouping, or other display settings, you can save the current configuration as a view. Select the Save view button that appears when changes are detected, and choose one of the following options:

  • Create new view — provide a name and select the view type (see below).
  • Overwrite existing view — select an existing view from the list to update its configuration with your current settings. Only views you have permission to edit are available.

View types and permissions

View typeScopeWho can create / editWho can use
PersonalYour own accountAll usersOnly you
LocalA specific portfolioAdmins, managers, supportAll users of that portfolio
GlobalAll portfoliosAdmins onlyAll users

A view stores the following settings:

  • Selected item types
  • Filtered skills
  • Selected grouping
  • Column selection and order

Saved views work across both the List view and the Grid view of the same SPM tab.

Editing and removing views

Select the Edit view button (visible when no unsaved changes are present) to open the manage views dialog. From here you can:

  • Rename a view
  • Change the view type (e.g., from personal to local) — the view moves to the new scope
  • Delete a view — the tab continues to show the deleted view’s settings but the selector reverts to a changed state

The edit button is disabled for views you do not have permission to modify. For example, only admins can edit global views.

Views in portfolio models

When views are created as local views on a portfolio model, they are automatically copied to new portfolios created from that model. This allows administrators to pre-configure a set of standard views that every new portfolio starts with.

Changes made to local views on the model after a portfolio has been created are not synced to existing portfolios.

Filter panel improvements

As part of this update, the filter panel on SPM tabs now includes a close button for easier navigation. The filter panel itself remains available on all SPM tabs through the existing filter toggle.

Where views are available

Views are available on the following SPM tabs across Portfolio, Teams, and other SPM components:

  • List tab
  • Capacity Planning tabs (teams and skills)
  • Financial Planning tab
  • Impact planning tab

Views are not available on the Workflows tab.
