Portfolio managers can now design custom page layouts for their workflow configurations. Instead of relying on a fixed form structure, you build exactly the layout you need — with field segments, list segments, and a drag-and-drop editor that puts you in full control.
This feature is available in the Portfolio App and affects how contributing teams fill in workflow tasks in the Teams App.
What changed
The workflow configuration screen in the Portfolio App has been reorganized into a tab-based layout. The previous collapsible sections have been replaced with clear tabs that separate general settings from the page layout editor.
A new Detail Page Layout tab lets you design the form that contributing teams see when they open a workflow task. You can add sections, columns, and two types of segments:
- Field segments — display and collect values for portfolio item fields such as name, status, dates, and custom fields.
- List segments — show and edit related items like plan-items, risks, issues, actions, lessons learned, and other log items.

Designing a page layout
Adding sections and segments
- Open a workflow configuration in the Portfolio App.
- Select the Detail Page Layout tab.
- Click Add section to create a new section on the page.
- Inside a section, click Add segment and choose either Field segment or List segment.
- Give each section and segment a title and optionally an icon and color.
Configuring field segments
Field segments let you choose which portfolio item fields to display. For each field, you can set:
- Editable or read-only — control whether the value can be changed (e.g. calculated fields could be made read-only).
- Show label— control wether the field should display the label or only the value.
Configuring list segments
List segments display related items of a specific type (for example risks, issues, or actions). You can:
- Choose which object type to display (risks, issues, actions, changes or lessons learned).
- Configure which columns are visible.
- Let users add, edit, and delete items directly within the list.
Rearranging your layout with drag and drop
Sections, columns, and segments can be reordered using drag and drop. Grab the drag handle (⋮⋮) next to any item and move it to a new position. You can:
- Move a segment within the same column.
- Move a segment to a different column.
- Reorder entire sections on the page.
Drag and drop also works with the keyboard: press Tab to focus the drag handle, Space to pick up the item, arrow keys to move it, and Space again to drop it.
Filling in a workflow task
When a user opens a workflow task in the Portfolio App or Teams App, the page layout designed by the portfolio manager is displayed. The team manager can:
- Fill in the editable fields in each field segment.
- Add, edit, or remove items in each list segment.
- Open a portfolio item detail page from the list by clicking a row.
Changes are saved automatically when you move to a different field. When the form is complete, submit the workflow task for review.

Reviewing a workflow submission
After a workflow is submitted, the portfolio manager can review the submitted data. The review screen uses the same page layout, so you see exactly what was filled in — including all field values and list items.
Frequently asked questions

Which object types are available in list segments?
List segments support plan-items, risks, issues, quality items, changes, actions and lessons learned.
Can contributing teams see different layouts for different workflows?
Yes. Each workflow configuration has its own page layout. You can design a different form for each workflow you manage.
